Vista: University-Centric Windows Vista Compatibility

The following is an alphabetical list of Windows applications in use at the University and their compatibility status with Microsoft's new Windows Vista operating system. In most cases, only the latest versions of the applications have been listed, though recent versions are listed if they require a paid upgrade.
All testing as of late-November is with the release version of Windows Vista Ultimate Edition running the 32-bit versions. A compatibility chart is available for for the 64-bit versions as well. As actual release versions of Windows Vista become available for testing, this page will be updated to reflect those results.

- Eudora 6.2.x and 7.0.x - compatible, with the following limitations:
- Kerberos functionality is only enabled if the Kerberos for Windows client is open
- Penn Online Directory (LDAP) searches do not work, because new search directories are unable to be defined
- Eudora Help File will not work
- ewido security suite 4.0 - does not function correctly
- ewido security suite is being replaced by AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5, which also currently does not work with Vista

- FileMaker Pro 8.5v2 - compatible with some issues. See the website for more information
- Clicking anywhere in the Relationships Graph causes the display to turn gray, hiding all objects.
- Clicking any blank space on a layout will cause the layout to turn black, including the Status area.

- Microsoft's web-based "Office Update" is not currently supported under Vista; install and run "Microsoft Update" to obtain Office 2003 updates automatically
- Older versions of Office will not work, and thus will not be supported
- Office 2007 - compatible

- Palm Desktop 4.1.4e and 4.2 - compatible
- Older versions have not been tested

- Quick Install is not currently compatible

- Remedy 6.3 - doesn't function with normal installation
- Installation under 'Compatibility Mode', as described here will allow Remedy to run normally. Additionally, the Remedy web interface functions in Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox
