Configuring Ubuntu For AirPennNet

These instructions allow Ubuntu Linux users to connect their WiFi enabled notebooks to AirPennNet. Other Linux distribution users will often be able to adapt these instructions for their notebook environments.

AirPennNet Configuration for Ubuntu 8.04

  • Click the Network Manager icon in the top right.
  • Go to Connect to Other Wireless Network.
  • Enter AirPennNet in the Network Name field.
  • Under Wireless Security select WPA Enterprise.
  • The More Settings dialog appears. For EAP Method select TTLS.
  • Enter PAP in the Phase2 Type field.
  • In the Identity field, enter your actual PennKey username.
  • In the Password field, enter your actual PennKey Password.
  • Click Connect to connect to AirPennNet.

AirPennNet Configuration for Ubuntu 9.10

  • Select the AirPennNet network from the Wireless Networks list
    • a dialog called "Wireless Network Authentication Required" will pop up
  • Change "Inner authentication" to PAP
  • In the Identity field, enter your actual PennKey username.
  • In the Password field, enter your actual PennKey Password.
  • Click Connect to connect to AirPennNet.
  • Click Ignore to the CA dialog box that pops up
