University-Centric Windows 8 Compatibility

The following is an alphabetical list of Windows applications in use at the University and their compatibility status with Microsoft's Windows 8 operating system. In most cases, only the latest versions of the applications have been listed, though recent versions are listed if they require a paid upgrade.

All testing is up-to-date as of early January 2013 with the Release To Manufacturing (RTM) versions of Windows 8 Pro and Windows 8 Enterprise.

Except for the applications that are integrated with Windows 8, such as Internet Explorer 10 and Windows Media Player 12 and as otherwise noted, these applications do not function in the Windows 8 "Modern" tiled environment. A listing of compatible indicates that the application will function in the “classic” Windows 8 desktop environment and that it functions without a significant decline in expected performance. In addition, this compatibility listing explicitly does not cover Windows RT (the tablet-only, ARM processor-based version of Windows).
